Human Resources and Safety Manager

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coach, counsel, and guide operational leaders regarding performance, corrective action, and other matters of organizational risk to drive performance and adherence to company policy
- Develop and implement HR objectives, goals, and system development to support continuous improvement efforts
- Maintain employee handbooks; develop and enforce policies and procedures
- Acknowledge and resolve all employee questions and concerns promptly by partnering with leadership and interpreting/adhering to HR/company policies to ensure consistency
- Collaborate with management regarding employee retention: identification of potential at-risk employees, coaching and training for management, and other retention-related activities
- Create, implement, and maintain safety programs in accordance with industry regulations and company policies; stay current with any changes in safety regulations and best practices
- Manages the safety committee to mitigate safety hazards for employees and ensure compliance with OSHA, as well as other audits. Monitors safety issues, incidents, and conducts thorough investigations when required
- Maintain accurate records of all safety-related incidents, performed accident investigations, and managed workers' compensation claims
- Conduct regular safety audits, emergency response drills, and inspections to identify potential hazards, enforce usage of guards and PPE; ensure housekeeping protocol being followed at the main location along with all job sites
- Facilitate Toolbox talks with various topics weekly in production, and on a rotating schedule for multiple job sites
- Work with the Installation team to implement a site-specific safety program for each job site
- Maintain job site reports (i.e. JHA/Pre-task Plan), to ensure leads are completing per requirements
- Bring to the manager’s attention any leads not complying with requirements
- Schedule annual training for first aid/CPR, forklift, scissor lift, respirator, hearing test, ergonomics, and fire extinguisher
- Organize and evaluate Safety Data Sheets (SDS) as needed for various materials/chemicals; update as needed. Go over any new materials/chemicals with the team
- Oversees Fleet Safety and Driver Safety, as well as scheduling maintenance of a fleet of vehicles
- Facilitates completion of required documents related to pay, benefits, and policies as well as completion of new hire paperwork
- Handles offboarding tasks in collaboration with the Department Manager of terminated employees and Accounting, and has an exit interview with the employees
SKILLS/REQUIREMENTS:
- Experience in Construction Safety is required, experience in millwork a plus
- Experience in HR required
- Bilingual in English and Spanish is required
- Proficient in using a computer and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)
- A valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Possess current certification for CPR/First Aid/AED
- Ability to walk and stand for extended periods
- Ability to climb ladders and stairs
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment, including hard hats, safety glasses, and steel-toed boots
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
- Experience with union workforce desired, but not required
- Journeyman trade experience is a plus, but not required
- Highly preferred but not required - OSHA 30 or an accredited safety and health degree or professional safety certification (i.e., CSP, CHST or STS)
PAY & BENEFITS:
- Salary of $85,000.00 to $115,000.00 annually depending on experience
